Taken at the rim just before the family and I headed down the Bright Angel trail. The storm that brought the previous day's snow to the canyon was still present but slowly breaking up and allowed the sun to peak under the clouds to illuminate the walls of the canyon. As we hiked down the trail, we could see that the clouds rising up originated at the canyon floor which seemed covered in fog. The upper portions the trail were covered in snow and ice and we needed ice cleats for our trail shoes on the way down to maintain some sort of grip. We hiked down a couple of miles to an overlook, then headed back. It's quite a steep hike out.
